Malaysia eVisa for Colombian Citizens

For travelers who hold a Colombian passport: how to choose between the Tourist and Business eVisa, what to gather beforehand, what our service costs and where Immigration's decision fits. It is guidance for preparing, not a ruling on your own case.

Malaysia eVisa Overview for Colombian Passport Holders

Colombia is one of the nationalities in the eVisa list on our homepage, where we publish eVisa information by passport nationality. This page pulls that information together for Colombian passport holders who want to understand the process before they begin: which categories our online application service handles, which documents to gather, what the service costs and what happens once an application has been handed to Immigration.

Treat it as a preparation guide. What is open to you can change with your purpose of travel and personal circumstances, and no page on this website, including this one, can tell you in advance whether a particular application will be approved.

Categories
The Tourist eVisa and the Business eVisa, each offered at a Regular or an Express service level.
Where it happens
Everything is completed online, ahead of your trip.
Who decides
Immigration assesses each application once it has been submitted. Our part is to help prepare and submit it.

One boundary is worth stating early. This page does not describe how long a Colombian passport holder may stay, how long a visa stays valid, whether any exemption applies or which entry conditions apply, because none of that has been confirmed for this page. Those matters belong to Immigration, and the decision you receive is the place to look for them.

Choosing Between the Tourist and Business eVisa

Start with the reason for your trip. The category follows from it, and so does the paperwork.

Tourist eVisa

Suits a vacation, sightseeing or a visit to relatives or friends in Malaysia. A hotel stay keeps the accommodation paperwork simple; staying with a host means adding the host's documents.

Tourist eVisa requirements

Business eVisa

Suits meetings, conferences, discussions and other eligible business activity. Be ready to explain what you will be doing and with whom, and to show who you work for.

Business eVisa requirements

Meeting a client or attending an event points to the Business eVisa; a vacation or a family visit points to the Tourist eVisa. If you are moving to Malaysia to work or study, joining a family member who holds a pass, or traveling on an approved official visit, the Visa with Reference (VDR) entry-visa categories apply instead.

Single Entry or Multiple Entry

Single Entry
One entry into Malaysia, within the conditions of the visa and Immigration's decision.
Multiple Entry
Can allow several entries during its validity where it is offered and approved. Availability depends on nationality-specific eligibility and immigration conditions, so we cannot say it will be open to Colombian applicants. For some applicants, Single Entry is the only option.

Documents to Prepare Before You Apply

Three identity items are needed whichever category you choose. Beyond those, the application asks for supporting material that fits your trip. Use these lists to get organized, and rely on the application itself for the final word on what is needed.

Identity items

  • Your valid passport, the one you plan to travel on.
  • A sharp, complete colour copy of the passport's biodata page, with the machine-readable lines at the foot included and no glare or shadow.
  • A recent passport-style photograph against a plain background, natural and unfiltered.

Upload specifications are displayed in the application; this page does not state photograph dimensions.

Supporting documents for a Tourist eVisa

  • A flight booking, or an itinerary showing your travel dates.
  • A hotel confirmation, or the host's documents for a stay with family or friends.
  • Financial evidence, such as a bank statement, where it is requested.
  • A current residence permit, where it applies to you.

Supporting documents for a Business eVisa

  • An invitation or supporting letter from the Malaysian organization you will visit.
  • A short description of the purpose of your visit and the activities planned.
  • Registration or organizational details of the company involved, where applicable.
  • A letter from your employer, or other business identification, showing your role.
Names as printed
Enter your name exactly as the passport prints it. If the passport shows more than one given name or more than one surname, include each one as shown.
Language of your documents
This website does not publish a rule about document language or translation, so we cannot say in advance whether a particular document needs one. Follow the instructions displayed in the application, and provide a translation if one is requested.
Applying from another country
If you will apply from a country other than the one that issued your passport, add proof of your valid residence permit or long-term stay authorization there, and evidence that you plan to return after your visit to Malaysia.
Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (If Applicable)
Travellers arriving in Malaysia from countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission may be required to present a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate. The same can apply to certain airport transits of more than 12 hours through affected countries. It depends on your travel history and route, not passport nationality alone, so check whether it applies to your journey and carry the certificate when required.
No separate Colombia checklist
There is no separate checklist for Colombian passport holders on this website. An item requested inside the application outranks anything listed here.

Application Steps

The online application has three stages: complete it, add your documents, then review and submit. Working through these five steps in order keeps the last stage short.

  1. Match your trip to a category

Decide whether the purpose of your trip is tourism or business, and which entry option you would like to request.

  2. Choose Regular or Express

Compare the two service levels and their prices in the fees section below, then pick the one that suits you.

  3. Gather and photograph your documents

Take the passport photo page in good light, and collect the booking, accommodation, financial or business papers that apply.

  4. Fill in the application carefully

Copy names, the passport number, date of birth and nationality from the passport rather than from memory. Mismatches are the most common reason for a clarification request.

  5. Review, submit and watch for requests

Check every field against your documents, complete the submission, and reply promptly if anything further is asked of you.

Regular and Express Options Explained

Regular

The standard level. Your documents are checked for completeness and consistency, the application is prepared and then submitted, with no priority handling.

Express

Priority handling inside our own application assistance process, for applicants who want it. Immigration's assessment is not shortened, and neither an earlier decision nor approval is promised.

The two levels differ only in how we handle your application before submission. If your departure date is near, bear in mind that choosing Express does not allow us to say when Immigration will decide.

How Immigration Assesses Your Application

Your application passes through two sets of hands. Ours come first: we receive your details, check your documents, and submit the application. Immigration's come second: from the moment of submission it examines the application independently and reaches its own decision.

Immigration decides how it reviews an application, what further material it wants, how long it takes and what the outcome is. We cannot influence, override, speed up or change that decision, and we have no view of its internal review.

Our part, before submission
Receiving and checking your information, asking for corrections where needed, and preparing the application for submission.
Immigration's part, after submission
Assessing the application, asking for more where it sees fit, and deciding the outcome. We pass on requests and updates that reach us through the application process.

That is why this page quotes no processing time for Colombian passport holders. A number here would be a guess, and an application that is still pending has not yet been approved or refused.

If Immigration Requests More Information

Many applications move through without a further request, but some do not. Immigration may ask for a new or replacement document, for an explanation of something you have already provided, or for verification of the details in your application, and it may need extra time to finish. A request is not a refusal, and a tidy checklist does not guarantee that none will come.

Blurred or cropped scans
A passport copy with glare, a shadow or a missing edge will need to be sent again.
Spelling and number mismatches
A name, passport number, date of birth or nationality typed in a way that departs from the passport.
Conflicting dates
The arrival and departure dates in your application, flight booking and accommodation confirmation should all agree.
Gaps in host or business papers
A host stay without the host's documents, or a business trip without a clear invitation and company details.
Immigration's own judgment
Immigration may decide it wants more time or more information even when everything you supplied was in order.

When a request reaches you, answer it quickly and precisely. Keep the same passport and booking details where possible, and hold off on any non-refundable travel purchases until you have a decision.

Preparing for Your Trip to Malaysia

The weeks before departure go more smoothly if the details in your application, your passport and your bookings all tell the same story.

Read the decision carefully
When a decision arrives, compare each detail on it with your passport before you travel.
Keep bookings flexible until then
Avoid committing to non-refundable flights or accommodation before a decision has been issued.
Check what applies to your journey
Visa issuance, entry permissions and final approval remain subject to applicable immigration requirements, and circumstances differ between travelers.
Look at the MDAC page
The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card is separate from the visa. Its page explains who needs one and how it works.

Questions Colombian Applicants Ask

Does this website publish eVisa information for Colombian passport holders?

Yes. Colombia is among the nationalities listed in the eVisa section of our homepage. That listing means information is published here; it is not a decision about any individual application, which Immigration makes after submission.

I am visiting relatives in Malaysia. Which category do I choose?

A family visit belongs to the Tourist eVisa. If you will stay at a relative's home, prepare the host's documents as described on the Tourist eVisa requirements page.

I am attending a conference. Is that Tourist or Business?

Attending a conference or meeting a company points to the Business eVisa, which asks for documents about the visit and the organizations involved.

My passport lists two surnames. How should I enter my name?

Enter the name exactly as the passport prints it, including every given name and surname shown. A spelling that differs from the passport is a frequent cause of clarification requests.

Do my documents have to be translated?

This website does not publish a rule on document language or translation, so we cannot confirm it in advance. Follow the instructions in the application, and provide a translation if one is requested.

Will Multiple Entry be available to me?

It cannot be promised to any individual. Multiple Entry depends on nationality-specific eligibility, immigration conditions and approval, and Single Entry may be the only option offered to some applicants.

How quickly will I get an answer?

We do not state a processing time for Colombian passport holders or anyone else. The assessment, and how long it takes, rests with Immigration and can run longer if more documents or verification are needed.

What does Express add?

Priority handling within our own assistance process, and nothing beyond that. It does not shorten Immigration's assessment and does not promise an earlier decision or approval.

What makes a passport copy unusable?

The copy should show the whole biodata page, including every edge and the machine-readable section. Glare, shadows, cropped details and blurred text are the usual problems, so retake the photograph rather than upload one you are unsure about.

Once I have my decision, is anything else needed before I fly?

Check the decision against your passport and review the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card page, since the MDAC is a separate arrival-information requirement. Entry permissions remain subject to applicable immigration requirements.

This page is general guidance for preparing an application. It is not legal or immigration advice, it cannot predict how any application will turn out, and requirements can vary from one applicant to another.
