Malaysia Employment Pass VDR Entry Visa

This page is for travelers whose employment arrangements in Malaysia have already been approved. It covers the step that follows, the entry-visa application, and the employer paperwork that goes with it.

Who This Employment Page Is For

If your employment arrangements in Malaysia are approved and you hold the relevant VDR letter and Immigration approval letter, you may use this service, subject to the applicable entry-visa requirements.

Identity and Approval Documents for Employment

  1. Recent passport-style photograph.
  2. Valid passport.
  3. Clear copy of the passport biodata page.
  4. Visa with Reference (VDR) letter.
  5. Immigration approval letter.
  6. Supporting documents relevant to the selected visa category.

Employer Documents to Prepare

  • Employment offer letter. Your offer letter for the employment arrangement in Malaysia, prepared together with relevant supporting correspondence from your employer or company.
  • Employer or company supporting letter. A supporting letter from your employer or company. It is listed separately from the offer letter, so prepare both.
  • Employment-related approval or authorization documents (where applicable). Add any relevant employment-related approval or authorization documents that apply to your case.
  • Current residence permit (where applicable). Applying from a country other than your nationality? Include a copy of your valid residence permit or work-related residence permission there.

Additional documents may be requested depending on the application.

Keeping Employer Paperwork Consistent

Most requests for clarification come from small inconsistencies rather than missing papers. Make sure the name, passport number, date of birth and nationality you enter match the passport biodata page.

Check that the details in your offer letter and employer letter agree with one another and with the information you enter, and capture every scan edge to edge, free of glare and cropping.

From Employment Approval to Entry Visa

  1. Confirm your employment approvals

The VDR letter and the Immigration approval letter issued for your employment arrangements should be in your hands before anything else.

  2. Gather identity and employer documents

Prepare your passport, photograph and biodata page copy, then your offer letter, employer letter and any employment-related approval documents.

  3. Submit the employment entry-visa application

Provide the supporting documents the application asks for, drawing on the employer paperwork you gathered.

  4. Wait for the Immigration decision

Immigration reviews the application and makes the applicable decision. Approval and visa issuance are not guaranteed.
